With only a few days left to go in Bali/Indonesia we checked ourselves into a glamourous resort – hot water AND comfy beds – to enjoy what little time was left.
Trying to avoid Australians (and bogans) we stayed in Sanur, slightly further north than Kuta and on a different part of the island. Definitely less Australians (and bogans) and more expats. But with hot water and comfy beds in our hotel we didn’t have much time to explore 🙂
Sanur’s beach isn’t the greatest, but beach clubs from the glamourous hotels were still lined up along the sand. Like the rest of Asia the European tourist moved their sun beds around to ensure they got the full extent of the suns rays. One hundred and fifty metres off the beach was a reef causing waves to crash and form a surf break. The people swimming could be counted on one hand.
We took a walk along the promenade to see what was happening. Kites. Kites were clearly happening, with both adults and children out flying kites. While it may have been tempting to purchase my own kite and get amongst it, it had clearly been years (and years and years) since I had flown a kite, so I was relegated to the sidelines. Apparently there is a kite festival this month so everyone was out practicing. Some clearly needed more practice than others.
