I have just spent the last two weeks with one of my favourite people in the world – Sunni K. I should point out that this is not her real name. I haven’t changed her name to protect the innocent (of which she is not!), it is just a nickname that has stuck…since high school.

Sunni (as usual) proved to be a hit with all my friends. She joined in with whatever was happening & added many a story to a night out. She helped Cari to learn to play pool (aided by alcohol), she became a regular at the beach cafe, she ventured to Phuket town for an overnight jaunt & even became comfortable on Angela’s bike.

After a slight hitch at the beginning of the trip (she got a cold – a common occurrence for many of us when we start a holiday!) she got settled into Kamala life. I think one of the most interesting parts of her trip was that she got to see the weather turn – I am convinced rainy season is here. Thank god I took her to the beach the first few days so that she at least got to enjoy beautiful weather & see the ocean at it’s calm and stunning best. After that first week the weather became overcast & rainy. The ocean became wavy & the surfers are back! Crazy how fast it happens. The tourists are leaving & Kamala will soon be a sleepy town again.

One of the highlights of the trip – Songkran, Thai New Year, celebrated with a waterfight all over the country. We were able to hit the streets of Surin and join in with the locals. We bought huge Rambo water guns and squirted everyone who drove past. We were tame compared to the locals who poured buckets of water over everyone. They stop your bike on the street and tip it over you. So. Much. Fun! The water is a cleansing & blessing. We were so soaked that we have been blessed for the entire year!

Here is a selection of some of the best pics from Sunni’s holiday 🙂
