So I have bitten the bullet & bought an iPad… After frustration trying to find my blog app for the iPad (which has since been removed…grr) I am up and running.
So it's almost Christmas ("and what have you done…") and I am spending it on the Gold Coast in a 3 bedroom apartment (Aria) suspended 5 floors above the ground and watching the rain come down. It's almost the end of December and the weather has been less than pleasing to me. It is supposed to be hot, and I am supposed to be at the beach. I can see the beach from the apartment, but it's not hot enough to visit yet. The apartment was relatively cheap, given then a most people actually (try to) spend Christmas at home, and not in a strange room.
Christmas in a word – beach! After Opening presents early (I got Japanese Saki and a questionable Santa outfit…thanks Son…) we hit the beach. Though the weather was good, it probably wasn't warm enough for me to swim. And a good thing to, as the swell was huge and all the beaches between Broadbeach and Surfers were closed. All the foreign tourists were standing knee-deep in water, looking longingly out to sea, while the lifeguards – who wore Santa hats! – kept a watchful eye on them, ready to make an example of anyone who dared disobey the red flags.
Lunch was prawns by the water at Currumbin, and general lazing around. Seems lots of other people had the same idea, as there were people bbq'ing and playing footy all over the park. Tonight's Christmas dinner promises more of the same, including cracking open the Saki and testing out some North Korean cognac…nice! Merry Christmas all!
