About an hours drive south of Cairns on the Gillies Range is Lake Eacham. If you can stand the half an hour of EXTREME twists & turns in the road road without getting car sick, it is well worth a trip. It is one of two crater lakes at the top of the range & the water is beautiful. By this time though, I am ready to dive into lukewarm bath water to cool down! I must say though, that being on the Tablelands is cooler than being in Cairns. Even the Cairns locals are saying it’s hot! We walked around the lake – about 5kms – and took advantage of the cool of the rainforest.
What better way to cap off a perfect weekend than Sunday afternoon drinks with friends. And no better location than Palm Cove, 30 mins north of Cairns, one of the Northern Beaches. After some vino’s at home, the lovely Mel, Shane & I headed to the beach for dinner at Portobello’s. Palm Cove is a stunning location, so dinner across from the beach was perfect – very relaxing. The street along the beach is full of nice hotels, restaurants & shops, and such a great holiday destination…just remember to swim in the nets!
A HUGE thank you to all who made my weekend fantastic – Anna, PL, David, Mel & Shane. I’ll be back soon!
