I am an Aunty! Early morning on the 25th June my brother and his wife welcomed their son Alexander Joshua into the world. It was so wonderfully exciting!
(Cutest. Nephew. Ever.)
This is my first time as an Aunty (though I’m an unofficial Aunty and Fairy Godmother) and it does mean that I am discovering for the first time what it really means to be away from family when something big happens.
(Celebrating his one week birthday!)
I am missing out on meeting him while he is so young. Missing the cuddles and smiles. Sure, I have Skype and messages and emails but sometimes you just want to be there in person. My brother holds him up to the camera to Skype and sends me photos daily but it’s not the same.
(Showing off his Peru gear from his favourite Aunty!)
I feel that I would benefit enormously from the invention of a teleportation device. I could pop over to meet him, be there for the firsts (smile, laugh, walk) and even do a spot of babysitting. I could discover what it feels like to be an Aunty in person and not just via Skype.
If someone can get onto this invention, I would appreciate it immensely. Thanks.
