Living only 30 minute train ride from the centre of Vienna, Elmar and I did a lot of exploring.

The buildings and history in Vienna is incredible. Beautiful old buildings everywhere you look. I spent most of my time looking up, crinking my neck.

(Mariahilferstrasse)

(Random church)

(The State Opera House)

(The Spanish Riding school)

(City Hall)

We wandered through St Stephen’s Cathederal and through the catacombs underneath…complete with bones from the people who died in the plague.

We spent an afternoon wandering through the Imperial Palace. The gardens themselves were impressive, but would be spectacular in summer when all the flowers are in bloom. Inside we wandered through the palace rooms, listening to all the stories and admiring the paintings, furniture and architecture.

And of course there was plenty of time for random wandering.

After a day of sightseeing there is nothing better than hitting a Christmas market and drinking hot wine. Win of the day!!
