Firstly, I forgot to add a fabulous photo from the wedding last post, so here it is…
Isn’t it great!  See, poking my tounge out must be a family thing 🙂
So, Langkawi.  Amazing.  Laid back.  Beautiful beaches.  Yesterday I spent a grand total of $8 to participate in an island hopping adventure.  We were taken aboard a dodgy boat, and sped off to the high seas.  We headed off to the ‘Lake of the pregnant maiden’, so named because of the shape of the mountain, and the ability of the water to get you pregnant if you drink it…. needless to say I avoided drinking the water!

Another bonus of the afternoon was the burq-ini, a wonderfully fashionable piece of attire, aimed at allowing muslim women to go swimming.  While the one I saw didn’t have the full face covering, it covered pretty much everything else!  Impressive!  So, we island hopped, swam, and had the obligatory tourist photo taken, only to be sold it again at the end.  Now, normally I avoid tourist photos like the plague, however, these guys were sneaky…they put your photo on a plate!!!  Yes, a plate!!  How very royal!  I feel like Kate Middleton right now!  However, she is groomed to the hilt, whereas I am the un-glamourous traveller…not to mention the fact that I am not marrying a prince…
After our high sea adventure, we proceeded to the swim up bar at hotel…perfect way to end a day!  Then today we hired scooters.  So much fun!  For those of you who may remember my scooter adventure in Vietnam, I can understand you might be concerned, but fear not!  I only nearly ran off the road ONCE, almost ran over a giant goanna (and I am talking GIANT) and managed to avoid all tourist buses.  All up, a fabulous day!  The aim of the day was to go on the cable-car, which went up the side of one of the many huge mountains here.  When we arrived, we found it closed for monthly maintenance.  Closed!  Didn’t they know I risked life and limb on a scooter to get there!  Anyway, we continued on and circum-navigated the rest of the island, including a waterfall, villages, and the port.  Such a good day, but my hands are still tingling from the constant ‘shaking’ of my trusty stead.

(Doesn’t this sandcastle look like a mosque!!)

 (So Kate Middleton!)

(Paddle boats…solar powered!)

So tomorrow we are off to Cambodia.  Another country to add to the list!  I better go and book some accommodation…!!!
