First off, a huge shout out to the Lao and Cambodian Embassies…I got my passport back from the Cambodian Embassy in Canberra in under a WEEK, and my online Lao visa came back (with a super attractive photo..) in just 3 days. Impressive!
Then, Sunday night we girls had a planning night, complete with vino, to sort out acccom & flights for Borneo. We’ve decided to skip Brunei this trip, and spend 6 nights in the Malaysian part of Borneo instead. The plan is, after a girls weekend in KL, we’ll then head to Sandakan to check out the organutans (!!!) then of to KK (Kota Kinabalu) for 3 nights by the beach. Heaven! See, you can sort anything out with wine..!
Today we managed to get some flights sorted (by we, I don’t actually mean me – thanks guys! ). Air Asia had an insane special, so before Annabel nearly threw her computer out the window because the site kept crashing, we managed to get some internal Malaysian flights for $3.40 USD. Madness 🙂 So, at least they are sorted. Fingers crossed the planes don’t fall out of the sky. Almost rivals my 1 pound trip from England to France! Still have a few more flights to book, but will get that sorted soon.
Now that most of the ‘responsible’ stuff is done, it’s time for the fun stuff…I am looking to get something I really want…a new camera. I’ve been debating about getting a new one for about 6 months, but since a friend came back from o/s with a new one, I think I am sold. Figure it is just one of the expenses of the trip…right? She’s got a digital SLR and wow, the photos are great. Have started checking out what I want, and figure I might just have to get one duty free. An early birthday present maybe? I’ll have six whole weeks to learn how to use it!
So, with only 22 sleeps to go, I am still to book flights, buy a camera…and get a dress!!!!
