After a 5 hour trek to the border we crossed into Colombia.
Possibly one if the simplest border crossings I’ve done. We stayed the night in Ipiales before a mammoth 13 hour bus journey to Cali in the north. Though it was a cramped 13 hours the view was spectacular. We drove along cliffs that fell away to gorgeous valleys and steep ravines. After leaving the highlands of chilly Ipiales (3000m) the weather got considerably warmer which I was very happy about.
We arrived in Cali and spent the day there, basically because we couldn’t face the thought of getting on another bus. Cali is known as the sala capital of Colombia, though we didn’t get the chance to test our skills.
In the limited time we had there we got to explore a bit of the old city as we stumbled upon a walking tour.

Then it was north to Salento, coffee country!
