After 10 days and more than 1600kms we finally made it to Cairns.

It’s no secret. I love Cairns. I love the weather, the laidback lifestyle, the scenery and environment. I would love to live there…it’s just so far away. And it lacks IT jobs for the Husband.

I was excited to show off Cairns and had planned a rough itinerary. We were hitting the main sights, plus a few others thrown in for good measure. One of those was a place called Paranella Park. Basically a Spanish guy had his heart broken so married the next sister and came over to Australia in the 1930’s and decided to build a Spanish castle in the rainforest.

I mean, why not?

Today it is in ruins but it still beautiful.

Obviously the Kuranda Railway and Skyrail were must do’s. We took the railway up and the Skyrail down.

(Tiny Human made us stop for a beer before we headed back down. I can’t believe she is a XXX drinker…)

(Isabella woke up to this view. I’m sure she was wondering where the hell we were.)

Husband was most impressed that he got to be in a gondola that didn’t go over snow, but rainforest!

The next day we did the scenic drive north to past Port Douglas to Mossman Gorge. In my opinion it is one of the prettiest drives in Australia. You drive next to the ocean  – where the rainforest meets the sea. We were staying with a friend who also had a Tiny Human called Isabella. Thank god hers is older so we had ‘Big Isabella’ and ‘Little Isabella’.

(With our 2 Isabellas)

After Mossman we stopped of briefly in Port Douglas to check out the view.

So so pretty. Made all the driving worth it.

Now we have to turn around and do it all again. Backwards.
